Getting around Essex is easy. During The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games visitors to events in Essex will be encouraged to utilise public transport wherever possible and in the spirit of the Games, cycling and walking are also promoted as excellent ways to travel the county.

Train Travel

Bus Travel

Essex boasts an extensive bus network allowing travel throughout the county. Timetable information can be found on the Traveline website or by calling 0871 200 22 33. There is also a print copy of the Essex bus timetable available from tourist information centres, news agents, WH Smiths or by post for the price of £1.00.

Walking and Cycling

For shorter journeys in and around Essex, walking and cycling provides an environmentally friendly method of transport which has the added benefit of granting access to the stunning surrounding countryside. There are a number of walking and cycling guides available to download.
