Volunteers are vital to the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is an Olympic tradition to use volunteers, to participate in and contribute to the Games. For the crowds anticipated to come to the 2012 Games from around the world, volunteers will be ‘the face of London 2012. ’ Up to 70,000 volunteers are expected to be involved in the London 2012 Games.
Essex is so close to the London 2012 Games that it is right to expect that the county can supply a significant number of volunteers. Now that Essex has it’s own Olympic Events – Mountain Biking at Hadleigh Farm, there will be countless opportunities for local people to get involved. Volunteering opportunities will help build the momentum for the 2012 Games for the local people as well as attract surrounding communities to unite for the Olympic celebrations.
Volunteering is also a fantastic way to learn new skills that could lead to employment generated by the Essex Legacy from the 2012 Games.
Recruitment of Games Time volunteers won’t start until 2010, however you can register your interest by visiting the Volunteering pages on the London 2012 Website
