Saskia's Olympic dream began in West Mersea, Essex where she grew up learning to sail with family and friends.

After completing a Sports Science degree, Saskia trained full time up to the Beijing Olympics, leading the world rankings and gaining numerous medals at International level including World Championship Silver and Bronze eventually competing at Beijing 2008 with a 6th place.

Saskia's journey to 2012 was disrupted with various crew changes since returning from Beijing, but in February 2011 Saskia joined forces with Hannah Mills and within a short time sailing together the pair had won 2 Silver medals at World Cup events and a Bronze at the European Championships. The highlight of the summer was a Silver at the Weymouth & Portland International Regatta, the Test Event for 2012. In September the pair were selected for Team GB 2012.
