At the Korean World Cup in April this year in the 50m rifle three positions event, James achieved 1168 in the qualification round. He went into the final in seventh place where he added 99.1 for sixth place with a total of 1267.1.

After the match James’ coach told him that he had broken the 22 year old Senior British record set by the late Malcolm Cooper. James was amazed as Malcolm Cooper was a legend within the sport of shooting, winning two Olympic gold medals in the 3x40 event during the 1980s and breaking or equalling 15 world records during his career.
