Chrystall has been fencing for 15 years, starting where she grew up in Dorset. After a year of fencing foil she changed to sabre and was quickly offered a scholarship to Millfield School in Somerset. Whilst there Chrystall had a lot of age group success winning 3 medals in under 17 and under 20 International events, coming 5th in the under 17 World championships and winning several age group National Championships.

At 16 Chrystall moved to Brentwood School and won 2 Commonwealth Gold medals as well as her first senior National Championships that year.

Chrystall has been living and training in Essex ever since and highlights have been winning 2 bronze medals in Senior World Cup events, British Champion 3 times and climbing to the top 20 of the World rankings in 2010. She was 13th in this year’s European Championships and has made 5 top 25 results in Major World events this season. She is aiming for direct qualification for London 2012. This award will enable Chrystall at last to become a full time fencer as of December 2011 and she could not be more grateful for the support!
