Being selected for Team GB and getting the chance to play at the Beijing and London Olympics.
Chloe says: "Being selected for the GB women’s hockey team is a real honour and privilege. It has been a long time and lots of hard work since Beijing for the squad and hopefully we will see the improvements at this Olympics compared to 4 years ago at Beijing.”
Winning a silver medal at the Champions Trophy 2012 in Argentina, something never before achieved by a British women’s hockey team.
Also the final against Argentina was special for Chloe because she received her 50th Great Britain international cap.
Chloe says: “After the success we had as a team in 2010 (Winning 3 bronze medals) we wanted to progress on and the next step was to make a major final having lost in quite a few semi-final matches. The Champions Trophy in February 2012 was a great practice run for the London Olympics. We were able to find out about some of the opposition we might face at the Olympics and how their preparations are going. It also gave us the chance to make a final and we had a great string of performances to be able to do that. It has given us great confidence to keep medalling at major tournaments.”
Chloe has been selected for Team GB and will be playing for the GB women’s hockey team in the London Olympics.
She first started playing hockey for Dunmow Hockey Club (Now Phoenix Hockey Club) in 1994 and developed through seasons with Braintree HC and then Bishop’s Stortford HC. Between 2000 and 2008, Chloe spent 8 seasons with Chelmsford ladies helping them to 3 National Indoor Hockey Championship titles and European success.
Her debut cap for the senior England women’s side came at Chelmer Park in 2003 when England played Japan.
Olympic selection in 2008 helped to seal Chloe’s dream of playing at the very highest level in her sport. GB finished 6th at the Beijing Olympics and the squad hope to improve on this performance in London.
Since returning from Beijing, Chloe has played for the Midlands team in the New Zealand National Hockey League (Winning silver) and joined the Leicester Ladies squad.
Leicester Ladies are known as the ‘Manchester United’ of English women’s hockey and Chloe played a crucial role in securing the 2012 Premier League title, by sinking 2 penalty shuttles.
2012 has started very well for Chloe, along with the Premier League title she has won a Champions Trophy silver medal, something never before achieved by a GB women’s hockey team.
Chloe still retains strong links with her home county of Essex and regularly visits schools to coach and inspire young people.
