Chelmsford Sport & Athletics Centre continues to ensure that Britain's top international athletes are given plenty of opportunity to make full use of the facility. By setting aside specific times for full time athletes to train uninterrupted during the week, the centre has been used as the training base in the past for three of our Olympic competitors: Dean Macey (Decathlon), Andy Turner (110m Hurdles) & Sarah Claxton (100m Hurdles). Other top quality athletes who have also trained and coach at the facility include Julie Pratt(100m Hurdles Finalist, Commonwealth Games 2002), Kevin Hughes (Pole Vaulter, Sydney Olympics 2000), and Andre Davies(Junior GB International Decathlete) together with a number of prospective competitors for London 2012.

By working closely with Essex-wide athletics clubs, the Essex County Amateur Athletics Association (Essex AAA), UK Athletics (UKA) and Sport England, the Centre continues to support sport at grass roots through to elite levels and has established many important initiatives to help promote and develop athletics across the Borough of Chelmsford. It's growing reputation for providing high quality facilities and technical coaching for the region's best young athletes has given it recognition as a real Centre of Excellence. The Centre can be flexible in its approach to satisfying the needs of individuals or teams competing at London 2012. Chelmsford Sport & Athletics Centre works with elite athletes in many sports and has contacts with first class sports clubs locally, should any specific additional requirements be necessary
