Tours of the Basildon Bell Tower

On 24 July 2010, 20 visitors took part in tours of the Basildon Bell Tower as part of the London 2012 Open Weekend and the 'Discovering Places' Cultural Olympiad project focussed on discovering the nation's hidden gems.
The Basildon Bell Tower Captain reported:
"We enjoyed the Discovering Places weekend, in all we had twenty visitors, most of whom were brave enough to climb the tower to look at the bells. All had a go at ringing a bell and showed a genuine interest in what we do. We hope that some will be stimulated to take up ringing as a hobby."
