On 24 July 2010, South Hanningfield Tennis Club hosted a Challenge Fun Day as part of London 2012 Open Weekend.   This event was part funded by the Essex County Council Rural Community Fund.  

This was a free event that took place from 10.00 till 15:00 at South Hanningfield Tennis Club Place, Recreational Ground, Ramsden Heath, Billericay.

Their challenge to the public was  to use a tennis racket and hit as many targets with a tennis ball in three attempts.  The event was designed to introduce and encourage people to experience tennis in a fun environment based on challenges designed for all standards and ages from 4yrs and upwards.  There was also a DJ, BBQ, refreshments, entertainment and some challenging tennis related tasks for the whole family to enjoy. (from young children to grand parents).

Joe Tasneem, Chairman of South Hanningfield Tennis Club said:
