Essex Carrying the Flame, in partnership with Woodlands School and Basildon Competition Managers organised a Dance Festival for all schools in Basildon and selected school and colleges from across Essex. The Dance Festival was hosed by Woodlands School who entered two groups.

Dance groups had to theme their routines around the ideas of the 2012 Games and the Olympic and Paralympic values. Performances included Kreate Dance School, cheerleading by Robert Drake Primary School, Ghyllgrove Junior, Palmers College, Northlands Junior School, St Anne Line Primary School, Fairhouse Primary School and Kayzar Dance Centre. Schools had worked on their performances at school during lunch breaks, after school and in their lessons ready to perform at the festival.

Kelly Harman Project Co-ordinator for Essex Carrying the Flame said:

“The effort these children have put in to their routines really shows, they were all brilliant. Every school has worked hard to represent the Olympic and Paralympic values in their movements and with the music they have chosen.”
