On 25 July 2010 Jaywick COASTNET (Jaywick Forum & Neighbourhood Team) hosted The JayLympics - a community sports participation event for for all ages at Garden Rd, Crossways Park and Beach Frontage, Jaywick.
121 participants were involved including 75 young people plus 21 volunteers.
Eight different sporting activities were offered, making use of three public areas in Jaywick. These included Football, Volleyball, Yoga, Organised walks and Cycle rides, Mini-athletics, Sandcastle competitions and Hobbyhorse racing. Each sporting activity was led by a qualified coach which gave the Jaywick community-especially children-the challenge and opportunity to try out something new. There were demonstrations from local Belly dancers as well as kite displays on the beach. The sun was out for most of the day, making the event an overall success with good participation.
