Having recently concluded legal agreements with The Salvation Army and the London 2012 Organising Committee for the London 2012 Olympic Mountain Biking venue at Hadleigh Farm, Essex County Council is joining Castle Point Borough Council in organising a series of community events.

Starting today (30 November) a new edition of the County Council’s Hadleigh Farm newsletter will be distributed in and around Hadleigh detailing a programme of local events in the run up to the Olympic Mountain Biking event and beyond. It will also be distributed in the wider area over the course of the following week.

Scheduled to begin in January 2010, the local community events will be an opportunity for residents to hear more about plans for the Olympic event and to help shape the legacy it leaves behind.

Councillor Stephen Castle, Cabinet member for the London 2012 Games comments: “It’s almost a year since we started talking to local residents and businesses and the feedback has been immensely helpful in shaping where we are now. We remain determined to ensure local people know about the stages of planning and also have the opportunity to have their say on issues that matter to them.

So I’d like to encourage people to watch out for the newsletter and keep it somewhere handy - it contains details about the forthcoming community events and essential contact information.”
