From October through to April 2012, Essex County Council, have been running The Active Plus Games, in the hope of encouraging the over fifties of the county to participate in more sport.
The Active Plus Games is a joint project between activecastlepoint, activerochford, activesouthend and Essex County Council’s 2012 Legacy Team to encourage residents in both the Rochford District and Castle Point areas aged 50+ to take part in sport and physical activity, by providing them with a voucher, allowing them to participate in free sport and physical activities.
The Active Plus Games are a perfect opportunity for those who wouldn’t usually consider taking part, to get inspired by the fast approaching Games and get involved through the use of these free sessions.
At the local Hullbridge Community Centre in Rochford District, The Blues Body Care, Fit For Life group, took advantage of The Active Plus Games by signing up to the scheme to claim their free sessions. Councillor Joan Mockford, Vice Chairman of Rochford District Council, along with Rochford District’s Sports Personality of the Year Philip Harper also took the chance to get involved and show their support of the scheme.
