Between December 2008 and April 2009 Essex hosted a series of Business Breakfasts across the county to encourage Essex businesses to sign up to the CompeteFor website and capitalise on the potential London 2012 business opportunities. 

Working with Business Link East, Essex has already hosted six successful events  at the Colchester United FC and Holiday Inn Basildon, The Essex Golf and Country Club Earls Colne Braintree, Five Lakes Hotel, Golf, Country Club and Spa, Park Inn Hotel Harlow and the Mill Arts and Events Centre Rayleigh.  Over 500 Business representatives attended these events across Essex.   As well as promoting CompeteFor and the 2012 business opportunities delegates were informed on how to enter the supply chain along with guidance on meeting the minimum criteria.
