Essex cyclist will compete in UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics

Harlow cyclist Laura Trott who receives funding from Essex County Council, has been announced by British Cycling amongst a team of 16 riders who will compete in the final round of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Track Cycling World Cup Classics in Women's endurance on 17-19 February 2012.

The Track Cycling World Cup at the London 2012 Velodrome on 17-19 February  2012 will double as the Olympic test event.

Trott will represent Great Britain amongst Olympic gold medallists Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton , Jason Kenny, Ed Clancy and Geraint Thomas.

This is the first major event to be held at the Olympic venue and will be used as part of the team's Olympic preparations by gaining race experience at the London Velodrome with the the support of a sell-out home crowd.

Live action will be broadcast on BBC 2

Full British squad:

Sprint: Matt Crampton (representing Sky Track Cycling), Ross Edgar, Sir Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, Victoria Pendleton, Jess Varnish

Men's Endurance: Steven Burke, Ed Clancy, Peter Kennaugh, Ben Swift, Andy Tennant, Geraint Thomas

Women's Endurance: Wendy Houvenaghel, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell, Laura Trott.

Laura Trott receives funding from Essex County Council through the Team Essex Ambassador's Award scheme for elite athletes from Essex with potential to compete at the Games.  Read more>>
