2 December 2009 the Cultural Delivery Group from the Essex Strategic Board for the 2012 Games hosted a Culture themed confernce at the Wat Tyler Centre Pitsea. The event was a sell out with over 200 delegates signed up from a range of public, private and third sector professionals who all uniited with the shared objective of 'Delivering a successful Cultural Olympiad in Essex.'
There was a performance from Woodlands School, a Bhangra exercise class and workshops about the main Cultural Olympiad projects happening in Essex which are:
Visual art and heritage project 'Journey to the Podium,performing arts projects 'Big Event for 2012 (working title) and Explore Culture One World Festival, and MLA (Museums, Libraries and Archives) literary Project 'Stories of the World.'
Special guests included: Jude Kelly -Creative Director of the Southbank Centre and METAL Culture and Olympic Fencer Alexander O'Connell
