Essex County Council invites residents to decide the home of the Mountain Bike Statue in Hadleigh

20 Aug 2012

Essex County Council has launched an online survey to the residents of Essex to decide where the Mountain Bike Statue - currently placed on the Victoria House Roundabout in Hadleigh - should be placed after the Olympic Mountain Bike events in August.

The statue, erected earlier this month, is in recognition of the Olympic Mountain Bike events taking place at Hadleigh Farm on 11 and 12 August. The long term location of the statue has not been determined yet and Essex County Council are now asking residents to take part in a online survey to decide whether the statue should remain housed on the roundabout.

Essex County Councillor Stephen Castle, Cabinet Member for Education. Life Long Learning and the 2012 Games commented: “The statue is such a fantastic reminder of the part Hadleigh and Essex will play in Olympic history and a wonderful welcome to UK and international visitors to the area. We really want the residents of Essex to make the decision as to where the statue goes and where they feel it will be most suited. I urge residents to get online a vote “

The online survey opens today and is available at www.essexlegacy.org/vote .

The survey will run from today until after the Games.
