Essex Carrying the Flame hosted a successful “design a poster to promote cycling in your area” competition. The competition was open to all schools in Tendring, who’s pupils designed posters that promoted cycling in their area as well as highlighting the Tour de Tendring. Children were judged on the information they provided, the design and the appeal of the poster, this allowed teachers to incorporate lots of cross curriculum activities that promote Olympic and Paralympic themes and values particlarly in connection with culture, sport and physical activity. The winner from Broomgrove School in Wivenhoe was 8 year old Maisy Warner who received a brand new mountain bike and helmet.
