In April 2010, Essex Carrying the Flame awarded grants to 10 Schools to allow them to run projects which link with the Olympic and Paralympic Values and Explore Culture One World Festival. Schools and School Sport Partnerships across Essex were invited to apply for a one-off grant to enable the development of new cultural projects that embrace the Olympic and Paralympic Values and that link to the Explore Culture One World Festival. The scheme was aimed at Schools and School Sport Partnerships who wanted to run cultural projects for the benefit of people in the County of Essex. Essex carrying the flame is a Learning and Development framework set up by Essex County Council to use the inspiration of the London 2012 Games to include sport and cultural activities in cross curricular activity.
