Epping Forest awarded Inspire Mark for Sporting Heroes Exhibition

In 2010, another London 2012 Inspire mark was awared in Essex, this time to Epping Forest District Museum for an exhibition of 'Sporting Heroes' that reflects Olympic and Parlympic values of determination and success

‘Sporting Heroes’ celebrates eastern England’s sporting success, showcasing past, present and future athletes, to provide inspiration for a new generation of sporting talent. 

Recognising the interest and excitement surrounding the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, stories of determination and success will be showcased within a touring exhibition, travelling to venues such as museums, schools and sports venues, enabling visitors to learn more about their local sporting heritage. A number of sports programmes and ‘taster sessions’ are also on offer, aimed to inspire more people towards active participation in sport.

The project will be launched at Epping Forest District Museum on 9 July 2010.  The public are invited to visit and find out more about their local sporting heritage and how they too can get involved in sport.

Sporting heroes is being deilvered in partnership with: Epping Forest District Council and Renaissance East of England: museums for changing lives
