SX Inclusive Activities recognises London 2012 Paralympic values such as equality through delivering a programme of activities for disabled young people and adults within Essex over the next two years.
This project will involve a number of taster events, competitive events and gifted and talented events across the county in both schools and the community.
Project partners include School Sports Partnerships, Competition Managers, Local Authorities, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Community Sports Trust and the Essex County Council 2012 Legacy team.
The project engages with disabled young people and adults, providing participation opportunities, whatever their ability, providing opportunities to continue in their chosen sport by linking to National Governing Bodies’, sports clubs, competitions and festivals.
A range of festivals will be on offer that could lead to continued participation, and in the case of the Athletics festival will lead to higher competitive opportunities with the Regional Athletics competition. There are also a range of clubs (cricket and football for example) that offer disability sessions, coaching and access to competition. There are also new clubs forming for example a Boccia club in Chelmsford that will offer a new opportunity to try a sport that is not there at present.
Events will include Special Schools Competitive event and non competitive events, Playground to Podium , BOCCIA , JUDO, DISABILITY MULTI SPORTS CLUB, Table Cricket at Essex County Cricket Ground, Zone Hockey, Aqua Playground to Podium, Panathlon, Inclusive Fencing Festivals, Kwik Cricket, Special Schools Aqua Splash, Essex Powerchair Football sessions, The Essex County Football Association’s Soccability League, ATHLETICS, DISABILITY SPORTS DAY, table tennis, trampolining, ice skating, swimming.
