Canewdon Parish Council, Family sporting event

On Sunday 25th July 2010 Canewdon Parish Council organised a family Sporting Event with cricket, rounders, football and tennis as part of London 2012 Open Weekend and the Essex rural community fund.
Approximately 90 people took part plus10 volunteers, including 60 young people.
The event started at 12:00 with a game of quick cricket followed by some burgers and sausages. The local pub cricket team played the first half of a game of cricket which included the involvement of the children.
During the interval of the cricket game, a penalty shoot competition took place followed by a game of short tennis.The cricket match then resumed, again with the help from the younger children.
After the cricket match a bowling competition took place on the cricket pitch to see who could hit the wicket.
The day finished with a large family barbeque and refreshments. All participants received a packet of sweets and a lollipop.
