Archery Taster day Colchester

24 Jul 2010

On 24 July 2010, Colchester Archery Club hostest a taster day of Archery for the public to come and try as part of London 2012 Open Weekend and Essex Rural Community Fund.

The Archery Taster Day was held at Mill Road Archery Range.  The weather was considered ideal conditions for shooting.

The day involved three sessions of shooting provided for people to come and try.

30 people turned up for the three 90 minute sessions supported by about 15 volunteer archers and they quickly had most of the visitors hitting the Gold!

The event was well organised and held on what was considered to be the best facility of its kind in the county. As a result Colchester Archery Club had plenty of positive feedback with one lady going straight from the event to the local archery pro shop to buy equipment she was so taken with the sport.

Colchester Archery Club have since received several emails thanking them for the day and asking for further instruction to start them on their archery career.  Colchester Archer club believe that it is always good to invite the public to try out the sport over a reasonable length of time and with a good number of arrows to shoot, allowing plenty of time to learn the sport properly.

They had a visit from BBC Essex, who broadcast live from the event.

They also had two employees from the  London 2012 regional project team come up to visit and take part.
