Essex Legacy from the 2012 Games, which is led by Essex County Council, is making the grants of up to £250 available for rural community groups to organise a sporting event during this year’s Open Weekend on 22-24 July. The funding available will support up to 40 events across rural areas of the county.
Cllr Stephen Castle, Cabinet Member for Education and the 2012 Games, Essex County Council said:
“Open Weekend provides a great opportunity for all the communities of Essex to join in the countdown to the start of the London 2012 Games."
“By making grants available, we can offer those living in rural communities the chance to participate and join in with the celebrations”.
The closing date to apply for funding is 27 May 2011.
