The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games offer a once in a lifetime business opportunity to get involved in the greatest show on earth.  With around 7000 direct contracts, creating a supply chain of over 75,000 opportunities, the 2012 Games will provide businesses big and small the chance to benefit.

Following the success of 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games the opportunities to win those all important contracts and benefit from the London 2012 Games are there for the taking!

CompeteFor

Procurement around the Games has been simplified through the introduction of the CompeteFor website; a free portal through which registered supplying companies are matched with Olympic contracts, all of which have to be advertised through the site.  This opening up of supply chains could provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for Essex businesses of any size to engage with the biggest show on earth.

However, the winning of Olympic contracts is not the only benefit the Games could bring.  If businesses that register on the CompeteFor website do not meet various baseline standards, they are automatically introduced to a Business Link service that will help improve those areas.  Even for those companies that win 2012 contracts, Train to Gain support is given to further develop those businesses.  This direct support will aid companies bidding for present and future opportunities.  Significantly, the 2012 Games procurement process is very similar to most public procurement processes, so companies that learn through applying for Games contracts will become fit for purpose to compete for future public business.
