Volunteering Opportunities

The Essex Ambassadors Scheme

Volunteering is an excellent way to be part of the world's most exciting sporting event, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Essex Ambassador Scheme is seeing corps of volunteers helping out at various venues across Essex, both during and in the lead up to the London 2012 Games. In Essex the mountain biking is was held at Hadleigh Farm, whilst the canoe slalom took place on the Herts/Essex border at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.

Following a successful launch in September 2011 more than 300 Essex were recruited as the 'face' of Essex to give a warm welcome to those visiting. Click here for further information about The Essex Ambassadors Scheme and view photos.

Sport Makers

Funded by Sport England the Sport Makers programme will recruit, train and deploy 40,000 new sports volunteers aged 16 years and over to organise and lead community sporting activities across the country.

Volunteers will have a positive and inspiring introduction to the world of sport volunteering via a series of workshops delivered locally through a training provider and in conjunction with sportessex. These volunteering opportunties will continue after the London 2012 Games, further increasing sports participation and contributing to a Legacy for sport in Essex.  Find out more>>
 

The London 2012 Games Maker Programme

The official London 2012 Volunteering programme is called the Games Maker Programme. Applications have now closed and the search has began for up to 70,000 volunteers for the London 2012 Games. Find out more>>

The London 212 Young Games Maker programme

London 2012  are offering more than 2,000 16-18 year olds the opportunity to be Young Games Makers, volunteering in a number of different roles during the 2012 Games. Applications, for teams of young people.  Applications have now closed..   Find out more>>
