Volunteering is an excellent way to be part of the world's most exciting sporting event, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Essex Ambassador Scheme is seeing corps of volunteers helping out at various venues across Essex, both during and in the lead up to the London 2012 Games. In Essex the mountain biking is was held at Hadleigh Farm, whilst the canoe slalom took place on the Herts/Essex border at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.
Following a successful launch in September 2011 more than 300 Essex were recruited as the 'face' of Essex to give a warm welcome to those visiting. Click here for further information about The Essex Ambassadors Scheme and view photos.
Funded by Sport England the Sport Makers programme will recruit, train and deploy 40,000 new sports volunteers aged 16 years and over to organise and lead community sporting activities across the country.
Volunteers will have a positive and inspiring introduction to the world of sport volunteering via a series of workshops delivered locally through a training provider and in conjunction with sportessex. These volunteering opportunties will continue after the London 2012 Games, further increasing sports participation and contributing to a Legacy for sport in Essex. Find out more>>
