Essex Flame Celebration
On 24 August 2012, the Flame for the Paralympic Torch Relay, was lit in London and carried back to Essex by local Paralympian, Danny Crates (pictured right). On 25 August the flame travelled to King John School, South Benfleet for the Essex Flame Celebration incorporating the The Lions Clubs of South East Essex's Midsummer Sports Day for Disabled People. On 26 August the Flame was welcomed by hundreds of people at the Wat Tyler Festival in Basildon. Read more>>
