The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad is a four year programme combining cultural activities and education with sport; inspiring new experiences through exhibitions, performances and celebrations in all arts and cultural media including street festivals, museum exhibitions, dance/theatre performances, film, food and fashion. The Cultural Olympiad will offer a unique opportunity for Essex to extend their connections with culture in all its forms. Essex has a strong cultural partnership with a priority to Deliver Successful Cultural Olympiad in Essex. This is being achieved through the delivery of a range of projects, festivals and events from 2008 – 2012 that will inspire and unite the people of Essex in celebrations that welcome the world to the biggest show on earth and leave a legacy through raised profile of and engagement in culture and the arts in Essex. Essex partners have been involved in developing cultural priorities through inspirational projects and events since the 2008 handover that have included conferences, festivals, art trails and art projects. These have been recognised and covered by London 2012 and other high profile organisations through national programmes including the London 2012 Inspire Programme, London 2012 Open Weekend andThe London 2012 Festival.
